Internet Casino Sucker Wagers — Part II

  • Progressive side bets: Games such as Caribbean Stud Poker regularly offer one of these. You typically put a wager (a dollar is the normal value) to try to win a side jackpot that can be upwards of $25,000. Though huge jackpots like these are very alluring, they’re also very complicated to win. You would need to get a Royal Flush in order to win this bet. Also, think about this- you wager twenty hands and lay the side wager every time. That’s twenty dollars you could have used towards the actual game bet in place of a sucker bet. Imagine what you might have been able to win at a wager with more favorable odds using that 20 dollars.
  • Individual number bets in Roulette: This is especially true for American Roulette. The reason? American Roulette has two zeroes on the wheel, unlike European Roulette, which has just one. This shifts the overall house advantage from 2% with one zero wheel to a huge 5.26% in American. The single number wager has only a 1 in 38 chance of winning, which are very long odds indeed. Bet on even-odd or black-red bets instead which have a much lower house advantage.
  • Keno: Any version of Keno, and regardless of how you gamble on it, the house edge can be a whopping 25%. No, that isn’t a error. Because of the large set of numbers you must choose, it isn’t recommended to bet on Keno very much. A number of times for entertainment, perhaps. But do not waste all your money on it or you’ll immediately discover yourself beaten.
